GCA-22ML

Upgraded Ground-Controlled Approach system GCA-22ML is designed to ensure flight safety of aircraft and helicopters within terminal airspace, obtain positional information and guide aircraft to a safe landing in normal and adverse weather conditions. GCA-22ML combines primary and secondary radars, and Precision Approach Radar (PAR).

Primary channel of GCA-22ML operates in L-band (ICAO), secondary channel uses standard frequencies for RBS (interrogation – 1030 MHz, response – 1090 MHz) and Eastern UVD (interrogation – 1030 MHz, response – 740 MHz). Primary and secondary channels work on a common antenna. Precision Approach Radar performs vertical and glide path guidance and operates in X-band.

Detailed information
Features of GCA-22ML

The PSR/SSR transmitter and receiver are entirely composed of solid-state components. The modular transmitters offer "fail-progressive" redundancy: the failure of one module results in a partial degradation of performance. The PSR/SSR antenna system is equipped with a new asynchronous motor driven by a variable frequency drive.

The radar includes a PSR/SSR operator workstation and a PAR operator workstation, both equipped with air traffic status displays and radio control panels.

All air traffic status data is automatically recorded and can be read in both passive and interactive modes.

The GCA-22ML is powered by two independent power sources: the three-phase industrial grid (380 V, 50 Hz) and diesel generators. The GCA-22ML provides effective protection against pulsed interference and active jamming. The interference level is continuously monitored and displayed graphically for the operator. Protection against interference is ensured by extending the signal processor's dynamic range and its electronic frequency agility. Passive interference is eliminated through digital adaptive attenuation (MTI) and the generation of a noise map.
