SAM system S-75M3-ML (Volga-ML)

Upgraded of Surface-to-Air-Missile (SAM) system S-75M3 (Volga, Volhkov, SA-2 Guideline) up to the level of S-75M3-ML “Volga-ML” is high-altitude, command guided system designed for point/area defence of administrative, industrial and military site against all types of air threats at low, medium and high altitudes.

S-75M3-ML efficiently destroys strategic, tactical and army aircraft, high speed reconnaissance aircraft, drifting aerostats, helicopters and cruise missiles with radar cross-section of 0.1 m2 and above.

S-75M3-ML  can receive target designations from AMCP “Module” type or operate as a stand-alone system.

Composition:

  • Missile Guidance Radar RSN-75B3-ML consisting of PV-ML fire control radar and UV-ML fire control cabin;
  • SM-RB-75V-1-ML missile battery (consists of up to six SM-90ML launchers);
  • power supply vehicle SAES-ML;
  • spare parts, tools and accessories kit;

Supporting systems:

Detailed information
Benefits of upgrade
  • capability to detect and destroy small targets including very low observable (VLO) aircraft;
  • improved operation in active and passive jamming environment due to new hardware technologies, jamming protection algorithms and signal processing;
  • automation of control from superior command post, target acquisition, detection and tracking of targets, pre-launch preparation of missiles, comprehensive functional checks, diagnostics, recording and training procedures;
  • increased engagement envelope, increased kill probability in various jamming environments;
  • implemented feature of simultaneous tracking and firing at three targets;
  • reduced response time and firing cycle;
  • 100% protection of combat crew against High-speed Anti-Radar (HARM) Missiles due to capability to move UV-ML cabin away from main system elements by up to 1000 m;
  • Extended service life – up to 15 years;
  • Improved reliability of upgraded components, MTBF of 1500 hours due to replacement of 99% of all analogue equipment with digital;
  • GPS-based automatic topographic reference and alignment of system components at site of operation;
  • Introduction of multifunctional command and control link equipment;
  • Digital data exchange between system components, superior command post and other consumers;
  • Interfacing capability with a wide range of surveillance sensors and control systems;
  • Evaluation of combat results due to recording and processing of all data on system operation;
  • Crew training capability by simulating air situation of any type and friendly actions;
  • Reduced number of system components. Standardized, modular configuration of equipment;
  • Notably simplified maintenance of system;
  • Reduced power consumption;
  • Improved ergonomics.
